It's time to explore online meeting, together. For most of our teachers guiding a practice online is new. Maybe, taking a class online is new to you, too. We appreciate your dedication to your practice, and your support and patience as we navigate bringing classes to you.
Classes are complimentary, although we do have paypal set up to donate, if you feel so inclined.
Yoga for the Pelvic Floor is a whole-life approach to pelvic floor health. Dawn Shawley created a series of workshops dedicated to yoga and relationship to the pelvic floor.
The pelvic floor is a complex trampoline of muscles with three important functions besides providing a foundation for the body: it supports the internal organs, assists in elimination, and aids in sexual performance and birth. The need for healing in the pelvic floor can occur any time in life, including after childbirth, during menopause, after surgery, or because of no seemingly direct cause. The body is retrainable through self-awareness and refined practice! That is what these workshops are all about!
The Series Cost: $80
Or pay per workshop: $35 | $25 | $25
Saturday, May 30th from 1-3:30PM
This 2.5 hour workshop covers essential basics through education and discussion, builds awareness through experiential breathing and gentle movement practices, and reviews posture and practical lifestyle tips. No yoga experience necessary.
It’s highly recommended to attend this as a foundation for the rest of the workshops.
Saturday, June 6 from 1-2:30PM
Experience the coordination of breath and body in gentle yoga poses to relax the pelvic floor and reduce pain. When pelvic floor muscles are too tight (hypertone), pain can occur during intercourse, doctor exams, and inserting tampons. Anxiety can also contribute to the pain cycle, so this session largely focuses on rebalancing the nervous system. Sometimes urge incontinence (the overwhelming desire to urinate) can be included here.
Saturday, June 20 from 1-2:30PM
This workshop focuses on coordinated yoga movement and breathing to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. When muscles have low tone due to being overstretched or weak, stress incontinence (urine leakage when coughing, sneezing, or jumping) and prolapse may occur.
